Drop off process

No bookings are needed. To dispose of waste at one of our facilities, simply bring the waste in your vehicle and follow instructions from our staff when you arrive at the weighbridge.

You will be charged according to the weight you dispose of, just as you would at a council landfill. Please ensure that you are dressed appropriately and wear closed-in shoes.

Safety is of the utmost importance, and you must follow the following rules when at our facilities:

  • No asbestos or any material with any risk of containing asbestos is to be brought to our facilities.
  • Only move your vehicle or trailer when and to where our staff directs you.
  • When you arrive at the unloading point indicated by our staff, please remain within your vehicle while your load is checked.
  • When our staff have checked your load, follow their instructions to unload your material.
  • After you have unloaded your material, please proceed back to the weighbridge when directed to do so.
  • Smoking is prohibited within our facilities due to the fire risk.
  • A speed limit of 10km per hour is to be strictly observed within our facilities.

When your unloaded vehicle is weighed on the weighbridge, you will be charged by card or cash.

Waste Types

For our environmental compliance and the safety of our staff and your fellow customers, you must adhere to our list of accepted waste types. The lists of accepted and prohibited items ensure that we only receive waste we are licensed to receive and that unsafe materials are not put through our processing plant.

We sincerely appreciate the assistance of all of our visitors in helping ensure that only appropriate waste types are dropped off at any of our facilities. As a matter of compliance, all loads are carefully inspected by our trained staff, and any non-compliant loads must be rejected.

Frequently asked questions

What are your drop-off prices?

The cost of dropping off waste at our facilities depends on the type of material you have. Our friendly staff at Kurri Kurri (8 Styles St) or Cardiff (3A Pennant St) are happy to answer your questions and help you determine the most cost-effective way to dispose of your waste. You can call us on 1800 180 180 or contact us here.

What types of waste do you accept?

Recycle Central accepts a wide range of waste materials at our convenient drop-off facilities in Kurri Kurri and Cardiff. Here's a quick guide to some of the most common types:

  • Builders' Waste: Do you need to dispose of leftover construction materials? We accept new or used items such as wood, metal, plasterboard, PVC piping, and packaging.

  • Domestic Waste: Got a household clean-up project on the go? We take old furniture, packaging, toys, appliances, general clutter, and even green waste from your garden.

Looking to dispose of specific materials? We've got you covered!

  • Concrete or Brick: Do you have leftover concrete or bricks from a demolition project? Recycle Central accepts these materials, including any steel reinforcement bars.

  • Clean Wood (non-treated): Clearing out timber? We take clean, untreated hardwood, softwood, particleboard, or plywood (no MDF though!). Screws and nails are okay, but avoid wood with other materials attached, especially H3 or H4-treated pine or creosote-treated wood.

  • Clean Scrap Metal: Do you have leftover scrap metal? We accept ferrous and non-ferrous metals like brass, copper (including insulated cable), and even white goods, appliances, or machinery.

Not sure if your waste is accepted? Check out our comprehensive waste acceptance guide here for a complete list of materials we can process. Our friendly staff at Kurri Kurri (8 Styles St) or Cardiff (3A Pennant St) are also happy to answer your questions and help you determine if your waste can be dropped off at our facilities. You can call us on 1800 180 180 or contact us here.

What happens to all the waste you collect?

Recycle Central is committed to responsible waste management and maximising resource recovery. Here's what happens to your waste after you drop it off at our facilities:

  • Sorting for a Greener Future: We sort all the waste we receive to ensure the best possible recycling rates. This means separating materials like metals, clean or treated wood, plasterboard, and cardboard.

  • Giving Waste a New Life: These materials get a second chance once sorted! Metals are recycled into new products, while clean or treated wood finds new life through various recycling or energy recovery processes. Plasterboard and cardboard are also diverted from landfills and returned to productive use.

  • Responsible Disposal of the Rest: The remaining waste, such as site waste, demolition waste, and dry commercial or industrial waste, is disposed of responsibly.

  • Free Scrap Metal Drop-off: Are you looking to eliminate scrap metal? We're happy to accept it at no charge! This helps keep metal out of landfills and allows it to be recycled into valuable new products.

Whether you need a skip bin or a looking for local tip services, with Recycle Central, you can be confident that your waste is managed responsibly and sustainably.
