Central Skips Partners with Shake It Up Australia for Parkinson's Awareness Month 2026

April is Parkinson's Awareness Month, and Recycle Central Group / Central Skips  is proud to announce our continued partnership with Shake It Up Australia Foundation to support their mission to slow, stop and cure Parkinson's disease.

Throughout April, Central Skips will be donating $10 from every customer order placed via our website or by calling 1800 180 180, at no extra cost to the customer. Every dollar raised goes directly to funding cutting-edge Parkinson's research in Australia.

Why Parkinson's Awareness Month Matters

Parkinson's disease is the fastest growing neurological disease in the world and the second most common neurological condition in Australia. More than 200,000 Australians are currently living with Parkinson's disease, with one person diagnosed every 40 minutes. The prevalence of Parkinson's has doubled in the last 25 years, and 1 in 5 people diagnosed are under the age of 50.

Parkinson's Awareness Month is a meaningful opportunity for the Australian community to join forces, increase understanding of the disease, and raise funds for vital research.

About Shake It Up Australia Foundation

Shake It Up Australia, in partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, promotes and funds cutting-edge research in Australia. Their vision is a world without Parkinson's.

To date, Shake It Up has funded 90 research projects across 24 research institutes to the value of $40 million. Their Founding Directors cover all overhead and administrative costs of the Foundation, which means 100% of every donation goes directly to research.

The research projects they fund span work that aims to better understand environmental and genetic risk factors, opportunities to slow and stop disease progression, ways to identify and treat Parkinson's earlier, and a greater understanding of lived experience to enable better care and treatments.

Research Is Accelerating

There is genuine cause for optimism. Parkinson's research is advancing rapidly, with new discoveries, better treatments, and scientific breakthroughs happening all the time. Disease-modifying therapies, those that slow or stop disease progression, are getting closer than ever. Of the more than 170 Parkinson's therapies currently in or nearing human trials, more than half are disease-modifying. Each breakthrough brings us a step closer to slowing, stopping, and ultimately curing the disease.
